Tom Phillips is a journalist and documentary maker based in Rio de Janeiro. He reports on South America for The Guardian and Observer newspapers.

In 2008 he created and co-produced 'Dancing with the Devil', a forthcoming feature documentary based around the life of one of Rio de Janeiro's most wanted men. Tom has also worked on three documentaries for Channel Four's award-winning Unreported World documentary series and was runner-up in the foreign correspondent of the year category of Brazil's biggest press awards in 2007.

Tom's work has taken him across Latin America, reporting from Bolivia, Colombia, Guyana, Haiti and Paraguay. He has worked extensively in the Brazilian Amazon.
